Of course the Cayman Islands is well-known for its beauty; the endless palm-fringed, white-sand beaches, the crystal clear turquoise waters and the year-round sunshine make it the dream holiday destination.
But did you know that the islands’ beauty has also caught the creative eye of several photographers and film producers, forming the backdrop for nature programmes, competition footage and even a fashion shoot?
Naomi Wilkinson from CBBC’s Naomi’s Nightmares of Nature visited Grand Cayman with her team to take a look at some of the local wildlife, proving that they aren’t as scary as they sound. She swam with the stingrays at Stingray City, visited the dragon-like blue iguana at the Botanic Park and kayaked the mangroves off Rum Point in the dark, in search of the magnificent bioluminescent light show.
Leading luxury beachwear brand Heidi Klein also saw the beauty in the Cayman Islands and chose to shoot their entire Heidi Klein Resort-Summer 17 collection there. The team were on island for a week photographing their stunning beach and swimwear, which included the Cayman Islands collection, a gorgeous eight-piece range consisting of mix and match bikinis and coral print cover ups, inspired by the beautiful sunsets of the Cayman Islands.
You may also have spotted the spectacular Seven Mile Beach on ITV’s Good Morning Britain and Lorraine as Andi Peters and the gang were in Grand Cayman, enticing viewers to enter their competition. Video footage of the Botanic Park, Stingray City, the Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa, Seven Mile Beach and Rum Point was also shot at the end of January.
