Heavenly escape: Mastic Trail

The Mastic Trail is a two-mile long trail running from the south to the north side of Grand Cayman and is a great place to find birds, plants and reptiles.

You can walk the trail unguided, but for a more in-depth and informative experience we recommend booking a guide through the National Trust for the Cayman Islands. The National Trust guides can point out various flora and fauna that you may not have noticed and also provide a background to the woodland and its significance in the history of the Cayman Islands.

The terrain is quite rocky in places so strong footwear is advisable, as well as lots of water. The best time to walk the trail is in the early morning when you will also hear the spectacular dawn chorus.
